Your Pain May Not Be Coming From Where You Think

Dr. Nichelle Pacia NMD @ True Health & Wellness Ctr, LLC.

September is Pain Awareness Month.

If your massage helped, but the pain returned days or weeks later, the treatment did not necessarily fail. It may mean that your body needs more than temporary symptom relief.

As both a naturopathic doctor and licensed massage therapist, I evaluate pain through two connected perspectives:

What is happening in the muscles and joints-and what may be influencing recovery from within?

Here are five common reasons pain may keep returning.

1. The painful area may not be the source

Pain often develops through connected structures. Hip discomfort may involve the lower back, pelvis or surrounding muscles. Shoulder pain may be influenced by the neck, posture or repetitive activity.

Only working where it hurts can leave the larger pattern unaddressed.

2. Your body may be compensating

When one area becomes restricted, other muscles work harder to protect it. These compensations can create recurring tightness, weakness and discomfort.

Clinical bodywork, myoskeletal techniques, cupping and assisted stretching can be selected according to what your body presents, not applied as the same routine for everyone.

3. Your nervous system may still be protecting you

Stress can contribute to muscle guarding, jaw tension, headaches, disrupted sleep and greater sensitivity to discomfort.

This is why some clients need more than deep pressure. Hence, nervous system reset bodywork may support you such as Craniosacral therapy, Reiki, relaxation-focused massage and other supportive approaches may help the body move out of a persistent stress pattern.

4. Your gut and overall health may be affecting recovery

Pain does not always exist in isolation.

Digestive concerns, poor sleep, inadequate nutrition, certain nutrient deficiencies and other health conditions can overlap with fatigue and discomfort. This does not mean that every pain problem begins in the gut. It means persistent pain may deserve a broader assessment.

When indicated, I may recommend a comprehensive consultation, wellness bioscan, conventional or functional laboratory testing, or practitioner-grade nutritional support. These recommendations are individualized instead of based on symptoms alone.

5. You may be stopping at relief

A single massage can help you feel better, but recurring pain often requires consistency and progression.

That is why I developed the True Health & Wellness Four-Step System:

RELIEF
Reduce immediate pain, restriction and muscular tension.

RECOVER ( Packages 5- sessions for 450.00-Pain Therapy, 5-sessions for 350.00 Relaxation Therapy). **
Support mobility, circulation, relaxation and healthier movement patterns.

WHOLE-BODY RESET (275.00)
Consider the connections among pain, gut health, stress, sleep and lifestyle.

ROOT-CAUSE INVESTIGATION
Review your complete history and determine whether consultation, laboratory testing or targeted nutritional support may be appropriate.

You do not need to purchase every service. You need the correct next step.

For many clients experiencing recurring discomfort, that first step is a Medical Massage for Pain-$107.

Your session is personalized according to your symptoms and may incorporate appropriate therapeutic techniques based on what I observe and what you report.

If your history suggests that the problem extends beyond the musculoskeletal system, we can discuss whether the $275 Whole-Body Reset, 2 medical massage or therapeutic massage and a wellness bioscan reading.

Do not wait until discomfort controls your schedule again.

Book your Medical Massage for Pain-$107 and begin with Relief.
