As we celebrate the mothers in our lives this May, we want to take a moment to also celebrate something else: your health. At True Health & Wellness, we believe that optimal wellness begins at the root cause, and this month we want to shine a light on a connection that affects nearly everyone but rarely gets discussed: the relationship between glyphosate, gut health, toxin burden, and chronic pain.
The Hidden Connection: Gut Health, Glyphosate & Chronic Pain
What Is Glyphosate and Why Should You Care?
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup, the world’s most widely used herbicide. It is sprayed on conventional crops like wheat, oats, corn, soy, and many fruits and vegetables, leaving residues that end up on our plates, in our water, and inside our bodies. Research continues to highlight its wide-ranging effects on human health, particularly in the gut.
How Glyphosate Disrupts Your Gut
Glyphosate does not just pass through. It actively interferes with the body in several important ways:
Disrupts the gut microbiome by selectively killing beneficial bacteria while allowing harmful strains to thrive
Damages the intestinal lining, contributing to intestinal permeability (sometimes called ‘leaky gut’)
Inhibits critical enzyme pathways your liver depends on for detoxification
Interferes with mineral absorption, including zinc, iron, and manganese, all essential for immune and nervous system function
Has been classified as a probable human carcinogen by the World Health Organization’s IARC
The Gut-Pain Connection
What happens in your gut does not stay in your gut. When the intestinal barrier becomes compromised and the microbiome is out of balance, the body triggers a systemic inflammatory response. That inflammation is a primary driver of many of the chronic pain conditions we see in practice, including joint pain, muscle aches, headaches, fibromyalgia-like symptoms, and fatigue.
A congested detox system compounds the problem. When the liver and lymphatic system are overburdened by glyphosate and other environmental chemicals, toxins recirculate in the body rather than being cleared, keeping inflammation elevated and pain cycles running. Supporting your gut and your detox pathways is not just wellness maintenance, it is pain management at the root.
Know What Is Actually Happening Inside Your Body
One of the most powerful things you can do for your health is to stop guessing and start measuring. We offer two functional tests that give us a clear window into exactly what is driving your symptoms:
Gut Zoomer Test
Comprehensive Gut Microbiome Analysis
What it reveals:
Bacterial, fungal, and parasitic overgrowth
Intestinal permeability markers
Gut inflammation indicators
Microbiome diversity and balance
Digestive enzyme sufficiency
Why it matters: Pinpoints the exact gut imbalances driving your fatigue, bloating, pain, and immune dysfunction so we can target your care with precision.
Tox Burden Test
Environmental Toxin & Heavy Metal Panel
What it reveals:
Glyphosate and pesticide residue levels
Heavy metal accumulation (lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium)
Mold and mycotoxin exposure
Plasticizers and industrial chemicals
Overall detoxification burden
Why it matters: Identifies the specific environmental toxins silently overloading your system so we can build a targeted detox plan rather than guessing.

April is Gut Health Awareness Month, and if your body has been feeling off lately, this is worth reading.
Stress does not just live in your head. It lives in your gut, your hormones, your skin, and your energy levels. When stress becomes chronic, your digestion slows, your gut bacteria fall out of balance, and your body loses its ability to detox the way it should. That is when things start to pile up. The bloating that will not quit. The fatigue that sleep does not fix. The belly fat that does not budge no matter what you try. The skin flares, the brain fog, the feeling that something is just off.
Here is what most people miss: your gut and your detox system are deeply connected. When one is struggling, the other suffers too. And when stress is the root cause, both need support at the same time. That is exactly why so many people do everything right and still do not feel better.
At True Health & Wellness, we look at the full picture. We address stress, gut health, and detox together so your body can actually heal, not just cope. Whether you are starting with a BioScan Assessment, a hands-on bodywork session, or one of our structured wellness programs, every step we take is rooted in what your body specifically needs.
April is IBS, Gut, Stress, and Detox Awareness Month
IBS Isn’t a Diagnosis, It’s a Description
I see many patients who come in and tell me, My doctor said I have IBS. And my first question is always, Okay, but why?
IBS, or Irritable Bowel Syndrome, is not a true diagnosis. It is a term used when someone has symptoms like bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, or abdominal pain, but the root cause has not been identified yet. It simply means the gut is not functioning properly.
In my practice, IBS is usually connected to a few major issues. The most common things I see are gut bacteria imbalance, chronic stress and nervous system dysfunction, slow gut motility, poor bile flow, food sensitivities, and inflammation in the gut. The digestive system is closely connected to the nervous system, hormones, liver detox pathways, and metabolism. This is why many people with IBS also deal with fatigue, hormone imbalance, skin issues, anxiety, and weight gain.
IBS should not be ignored or brushed off as just stress. It is a sign that something in the gut, nervous system, and hormones is not working the way it should.
What many people do not realize is that digestion is not just chemical. It is also neurological and physical. The intestines depend on proper nerve signaling, circulation, and lymphatic flow to move properly. If the body is constantly in stress mode, or if there is tension and restriction in the abdomen, the gut will not move properly. This is why, in addition to nutrition and supplements, I often incorporate abdominal therapy, lymphatic therapy, and nervous system support to help restore proper gut motility.
The goal is not to just manage IBS. The goal is to figure out why the gut is not functioning properly in the first place and correct that.
If you are dealing with chronic bloating, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or you have been told you just have IBS, it may be time for a more comprehensive root cause approach.
